The olive wood has a nice weight in my hand and doesn't scratch my nonstick pan at all. It's non porous too, so it doesn't hold onto the garlic smell from last night's dinner.

I've been cooking with this spoon for a few weeks now and it hasn't stained or absorbed any garlic or tomato smell, which is exactly what I wanted from something non porous. It's got a nice solid weight without being clunky to stir with.

The grain on this spoon is absolutely gorgeous, and since it's non-porous, I don't worry about it soaking up oils or odors after stirring a garlicky tomato sauce. It's held up beautifully through daily use and still looks as good as the day it arrived.
