I was worried the clay color would look flat, but it actually shifts a bit with the light thanks to that medium-sheen fabric. It holds its shape well on the sofa without feeling stiff against my back.
The velvet has a nice medium sheen that catches light without looking shiny, and it holds its shape way better than the cheap bolster I had before. Tucked it at the end of the couch and it instantly made the whole corner look more put together.
Finally got this bolster to anchor the corner of my bed and it's done exactly what I hoped—structured enough to hold its shape but the velvet is soft against my back when I sit up reading. Clay is a richer, warmer tone in person than the photos showed, which I'm honestly thrilled about.
